RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS (RFA):
When a player's contract reaches 0, they become a free agent. If they are not Franchised or ACE'd, they are a RFA and can be bid on during the Free Agent Auction (FAA). If a player is introduced to be bid on, the previous owner can also counter bid.
EXAMPLE: Team A introduces WR Julio Jones, a player whose contract expired on Team B. Team A puts a $5 bid. Team B can match this bid and does not have to increase the bid. If no other team bids on Jones, and Team A doesn't increase it, Jones then resigns to the original Team B and that team can give Jones another contract for any amount of years.
If a team has a player that is not introduced in the auction, after the auction period is over, then the team can re-sign that player to another contract for any amount of years.
