Each franchise will operate under a 65 year cap. That means you will give each player a contract that must be equal to or less than 65 years. Any variation thereof as long as you are at 65 or under! It will be your decision as GM how many years a player gets when drafted, or won at auction.
Cap penalty: Regular Season. If you drop a player during the regular season, you will not incur a cap penalty, only a monetary penalty of 10 BEER TOKENS PER YEAR.
Example: TEAM X releases ROBERT GRIFFIN III in Week 2 who had a 4 year contract. It will cost TEAM X 40 Beer Tokens.
Cap penalty: Off season. If you drop a player during the Off-season (after week 17), you will incur a penalty of 5 BEER TOKENS PER YEAR.
There will be a grace period as designated by the Commissioner in which every franchise can drop a player with 1 year remaining with no penalty.
SEASON: March 1st to Febraury 28. After March 1st, RTSports resets and that is when all contracts are diminished by one year.
DISCLAIMER: It does get a little confusing when dealing with the CAP. When you make trades, you have to stay under, when picking up free agents off waiver wire you have to stay under, etc etc. It is like a puzzle, but ANY questions please let me know! I also get confused with this at times but we will work through it together, and I will try my best to explain any "cap infractions" that occur.
